48" American Hickory Single bit axe handle. Narrow pattern made for hookeroon use, but can also be used on anything fitting the eye. Eye size is approx. 2-1/4" x 3/4" comes with one wood and metal wedge. These are #3 grade with useable blims. Plain sanded. Some have checking cracks or bows.
I use hookeroons in and around my portable sawmill to save steps and consequently the longer handled versions are my preference. These long handle versions are generally not that easy to find. The handle I bought was listed as a #3, but was straight grained and the only defect I could find was a small pin knot midway the handle that had no impact on the handle's functionality in a hookeroon. Given the #3 designation I, was not expecting anything near the quality I received.
I understand that it is #3 grade but there is a limit. It is split so much I am afraid to actually use it with a tool head. I would not trust that it wouldn't just snap in use and cause a nasty accident. I will have to find another at some other seller that I can use for work. This I suppose, I can repair with glue and clamps and just use for hanging on the wall. Not what I can use at all for what I was wanting, and will not buy again.
