Claw hammer handle

Initially I ordered the 12” handle, but that was way too small. I then ordered the 14” handle. I was a bit disappointed as the new handle was really loose in the head. I inquired about a tighter fitting handle but none more tight were available. I went ahead and fit the handle. I had to set the handle very low on the neck, trying to get as much handle meat into the head as possible. However, even then, as you can see, after driving the wedge as far as possible, the handle did not fully fill the hole. I have yet to seriously use the hammer since being repaired, so time will tell on its durability.

We offered some suggestions on using wood cross wedges in addition to the metal wedge for this customer. We list the size of the handle so it is up to the customer to decide if it will be a good fit.

Nice handle nice price!

Nice handle nice price! I used this to restoremy first hammer that I have had since I was 12. That hammerhead has driven many a nail I can tell you! It’s now on its third handle and happy again to be in service.

14" real Hickory hammer handle

Got my real straight grain Hickory hammer handle, couldn't be happier with the look and feel of that octagon handle, just like the original handles on my Belknap Blue Grass hammers in my collection. This one fits perfectly in a hammer that i got, vintage 20 oz. curved claw i am restoring. Thank you fir the awesome handle Beaver Tooth Handle Co. Can't get these anymore from retail hardware stores.

A solid value

I’m happy with the handle. There was a little bit of tear out on one flank, so room for improvement.

New life for an old hammer head

I like an octagonal handle on my hammer. I bought (2) and used one of them to re-haft a Millers Falls 16 ounce #1416 rip style head. The grain direction was correct, excellent quality hickory and the shape is great. It’s slightly fuller than the “New Old Stock” Bluegrass octagonal handle I have on a favorite hammer and very comfortable. The balance it gives the old head feels perfect! Thanks Beaver Tooth for the wonderful handles you provide - You have a customer for life!

Great replacement

This was a great replacement for a 100+ year old hammer! The octagonal grip was the same as the one I replaced back in the 60s. This hammer is a working heirloom in a 4th generation of southern carpenters and I couldn't have been more pleased with the handle. Now to spend some time and smooth out the handle with sweat and use to get that beautiful hickory patina.
