This is a very nice handle - my antique broad axe had a significantly smaller eye, so quite a bit of material had to be removed to fit the handle (about 3/8” of thickness and over 1/2 “ of width). However, the shape was very close, so material removal was straightforward. Very happy with the end result.
I had trouble finding a handle for my broad ax. No one seemed to even know what handle fit it. I sent a photo to beaver tooth and got a response back that day. It could have had a little more wood to work with where it went into the head. An extra 1/16 all the way around would have been near perfect. It did not include a wedge. Had I known this I would have ordered one. Made one easy enough.
We do not slot our broad axe handles and they generally do not come with a wedge as there are too many variables to know what will be needed in the end.
I received three handles from Beaver-Tooth, two broad axe and one froe, to re-handle three 19th century family heirloom tools for display. The handles were very nicely made and from good straight wood. These will accentuate these tools very nicely. Happy that Beaver-Tooth is out there to supply my needs with quality handles.

Just received my offset broad axe handle and it is a beautiful piece of Hickory. I am using it to hang an old broad axe head from the old family farm down in Oklahoma but which will now be put to use on our cabin site here in Alaska. Very well made. No slot for wedge/will have to cut my own but think that is intentional since i will have to shave alot to fit. Pretty clear stock with a few sound pin knots and looks like just a bit of heartwood mixed with mostly sapwood. One star off as was hoping it would have steam-bent offset but looks like profile was just cut that way. Should be fine strength-wise since hewing does not require you to swing for the fences. Couldn't expect much more for made in USA at this price!
Hope it works well. Nope no wedge slot as you need to fit these so best to not to have a cut in the wrong place. Only steam bent handles we sell are shovel and plow. All axe handles are lathe turned.
Very nice handle. Very good grain orientation and lots of meat to it. This will be a pleasure to work down to the exact size I need.
The handle is well balanced, quality wood and seems like it will last along time.
