Good handles with a long wait before they ship.
Glad you like the handles. It took a little longer because due to increase in Holiday sales we ran out of stock and hand to make more handles. Glad we were able to to get them to you a couple weeks before Christmas
Could be 3" longer, but fits my hands great. Nice grade of wood as well.
We make this in a 2O', 24', 26', 28' 32', and 36'.
Threw this straight 20" handle on a USA made hudson bay head. Jumped into my top 3 most used/ favorite axes. Small enough to throw on a pack or in a kayak, but still can pack a punch.
The handle I got had good grain orientation and no runout but had severe checking. Some of the cracks ran the whole length of the handle. It should swell back up with oil and not be noticeable when I’m done but definitely not what I was expecting when I ordered the handle.
This time of year is bad for checking as the inside dry warm air is going to dry handles too fast and they will check. Also though you purchased the surplus grade with defects and checking is one of those defects. We listed that so there would hopefully not be any surprises.
The axe handle has a big crack on it. All the way down the side. Totally sucks.
You purchased the lowest surplus grade and cracks and checks are part of it. Please read the grades page before you buy.

The handle is a good solid hickory handle, good shape to it. It fit the socket with minimal effort and once in place had a good solid fit. Thanks for another great handle.
I had to replace a handle from a camp axe I had in Canada from 1985. I really love the straight shank type handle on my camp axe. This new handle is great and love the feeling of it. Definetly get your handles from Beaver-Tooth.
I love this length handle and it is not easy to find. Hung both of my jersey pattern axes with this size handle. Grain orientation was great and bare wood like a handle should come. I would recommend this company to others.

Thank you Tony. They look great. They will give you a lot of good service.
BTHCO Team.
Bought this haft for a Collins boys axe, and though the eye was sized for a much larger head it did not take long to shave down to size. Now it is a perfect little wedge banger and I couldn't be more pleased.

Hung a vintage 3lb Collins Michigan on this and it's just plain fun to use! Beautiful wood, grain, and feel. Great workmanship. I recommend if you are looking to hang a nice, heavy camp chopper!
Great product. Online instructions were easy to follow
Very happy and would buy from them again
I ordered 4 surplus and realized they would have defects. Three were reasonable but one had a hole from a knot that must have fallen out that went almost all the way through the handle from side to side. I filled it with filler but that one was a little surprising.
Surplus is the lowest grade we sell and is right next to fire wood. So don't expect select grade.
Great handle ! Nuff said
When the handle for my antique mine axe broke I was sad. A look at local stores did not find a suitable replacement handle. Beaver-Tooth was able to meet the size requirements for this favorite tool. I am now able to prepare wood for the wood stove and keep the house warm this winter. Modern axe's just don't seam to get the job done. Thanks for supplying such a beautiful replacement handle for my favorite tool.
This handle was exactly what I needed. It's a weird head dimension on a very old axe, and I had been searching for a while.
Quality part. Nice finish.
I think I have purchased 8 handles now from Beaver Tooth, haven't been disappointed yet.....great company
Nice stout handle, good grain. Rehafted my vintage Norlund Hudson Bay axe. I use it for my fallers axe, for limbing and pounding wedges.
I bought this handle for a heavy ax head I've had for a long time. I brake the old handle many years ago and haven't found a decent replacement until now. I like a heavy head with a short handle for splitting wood and this is perfect. Plus, how could you beat the price! Again, a perfect handle for what I wanted.
Beautifully crafted, fit exactly as specified, durable. Feels like it will last my lifetime. Looking forward to my next purchase!
Great handle!
The handle fit perfect in the axe eye. I had trouble finding a miner's axe handle until I found The Beaver Tooth site.
I am very satisfied with my axe handle. thank you.
A very good quality handle. I now have two orders waiting to be filled. This will not be my last order either.. Could not ask foe a better handle.....jce
good quality , works well
The 2-1/4" x 3/4" Single bit axe head I ordered by mistake, but somewhere around here I do have a head for it.
The order was shipped and received in great time.
Thanks
Arlynn
