Tulip Poplar wedges are the industry standard wood wedge for striking tool installation. Tulip poplar is a hardwood, but it is not the hardest of hardwoods. It works well for wedging because it compresses some and is easier to shape for fitting purposes. All handles we sell that need a wedge come with a poplar wedge. Perhaps you didn't notice, but we also have hickory and black walnut wedges if someone is looking for something different than the standard.

I've seen these around and wanted to try them for a while now. They seem well made, installed easily and the results look promising. Hammers I've had using them in the past have had better than average handle to head connection. We'll see how my axes fair by the end of next summer when our extreme range of humidity has had a chance to do it's work

This product is great! But the largest wedge ~3/4” is just waaaay too big for anything I could ever use them for. Maybe have an option with more small wedges in place of the biggest one. Otherwise, great product!
The large wedges are made for Sledge Hammers and work great for the job.

Picked up the assorted wedges as well as several axe handles. Occasionally I find very old axe heads that with a little bit of work can be turned back into a functional tool. These quality items make for a great restoration project.
