This is a nice handle with good grain. I mounted it on an old Jersey Head. It has good beef to it so I slimmed it down and made the palm more pronounced so it fits my hands better. I intend on using it to bang wedges. I split a bunch of wood just to try it out, no issues. All in all a very solid handle.
I ordered the lower cost surplus grade and was greatly impressed. This handle went into a working axe used to drive wedges and not be babied. I can highly reccomend the handle and will be ordering a premium handle for my Sager later. I would however like to see a plain option for all handles as I did have to scrape the varnish from this one before I oiled it.
We got these lower grade handles from a Mill That went out of business so some a plain and some have been lacquered. We are about out of them in the lower grades. We would never lacquer handles anyway.
Here she is. Not the best steel, but it should be useful for quite a while now. Locally, hard to find 2 1/2 lb Miner's axe handle. Treated with Boiled Linseed oil.

Excellent quality and comfortable. I put this on a very old Collins and it came out beautiful. It's extremely handy size for a 3 pounder. You won't find better than a beaver tooth handle! My go to for the last 11 years.
Came quickly, nice grain really stands out with boiled linseed finish.
Select grade, of good quality, shoulder transitions smoothly, kerf is cut well. Will have no issue bringing the head right down to the shoulder and hanging it proper. No wood past the swell on mine, only minor gripe. Will thin it out with a spokeshave but it doesn't need much. Restoring a 3 1/2 lb head for it.

Bought this handle for an antique Genuine Norland axe head. The handle was the nicest piece of Hickory I've ever seen. Perfectly milled and prepared. Beaver was the only place I could find this size and style and they really came through in the quality department. Nicely done.
the grain is right, the finish is great. . Its a high quality Handle . Best you can buy.
First time buying from beaver-tooth. Required zero fitting for the eye and made for a very tight for once fully seated. Good straight grain from end to end. Ordered several more handles for other axes and hammers as well

Received my Hickory select Ax and Maul handles last week and quite satisfied, good grain direction, good fit to the bits
and no defects, a little light sanding and several coats of linseed oil and ready to put to work...

Handle arrived on time and was as advertised. Out here in California it can be hard to source replacement parts for an axe. No problem at Beaver Tooth!
The axe handle was good straight grained hickory and fit my axe head perfectly. It replaced one that J previously purchased from Beaver Tool but was seriously abused by a friend of my daughter while camping and needed replacing.
