Perfect fit

Fit my Norland Hudson Bay axe perfectly. I was disappointed to break the original but this beautifully made, lightweight, and solid replacement actually feels better than the original.

Quarantine Project

I ordered in the Large eye sledge, grub hoe and boys axe handles. Minimal fitting needed. Fun project for a Saturday morning.

New axe handle for an old axe head

Great axe handle made right here in the USA. Arrived within a couple weeks and fit exactly like it was supposed to. Never replaced a handle before...but that didn’t slow me down. Easy peasy lemon squeezey if you know what I mean. Always feels great buying well made American products. Will not disappoint. 5 stars all day long.

Check the eye dimensions.

Nice piece of hickory.

I apparently ordered the wrong eye dimensions as the 9/16" width was loose in the head.

I thought I could make it work but needed too much wood wedge. Handle couldn't handle it and split below the eye.

HB head was not a boy's axe apparently.

Live and learn. Still usable for this light head.

My Dad's old ax

Almost 20 years ago, after my Dad passed, my Mom gave me a bunch of his old tools. One of them was and old Collins ax with a broken handle. I looked for a handle at the local hardware stores, but I couldn't find a handle to fit my ax. I set it in a corner and forgot about it. A month or so ago I came across it and wanted to fix it. I found Beaver-Tooth online, and they had the right handle. It fits tight and feels good in my hands. Thanks Beaver-Tooth for bringing my Dad's old ax back to life. This old ax wouldn't mean much to most people, but it means a lot to me.

Beautiful handle.

Great looking handle and sheath. Looks great with my grandpa's old axe head. I'll be back again soon.... just need to find more axe heads.

Favorite axe handle yet!

Too often when I purchase replacement axe handles they come with a coating of polyurethane or shellacking that I need to sand off. This is important because the wood needs to be able to soak in the oil I treat the handles with to get a snug fit. And then after fitting the axe head (after much sanding) the handle needs to be thinned because it is far too thick for me to get a comfortable tight grip.
But not the handles I got from Beaver tooth! They are free of shellacking and a nice thin handle with a comfortable taper at the but of the axe handle. I needed to do minimal sanding for a nice fit and the wood soaked up the linseed oil perfectly. That axe head is not coming off and it is a very comfortable grip.
My only complaint would be that I found the metal wedge to be on the large side for that particular (smaller eyed) axe head. But other than that, it was a perfect axe handle that needed minimal shaping and the grain orientation on the hickory handle was one of the best for replacement handles I've seen! Love this purchase! I will surely be purchasing all my axe handles (or any other replacement handles) from Beaver Tooth. I am very impressed with this purchase and for a very fair price! Thank you Beaver Tooth!

Great Product!

I am very impressed with the quality of the product I received. Not only did it fit with very minimal modification, but it also had great grain orientation and a palm swell that you don't find with handles from your typical hardware store. I will use Beaver-Tooth for all of my future handle and sheath needs from now on.

No Blem in sight

5 stars. This #2 blem is better than anything I can find local in Okc for this half axe. I can't even tell what the defect of this handle is, for a little camp axe this is perfect. I'll be buying all my tool handle from you guys. Select/#1's for me next time, they must be near perfect. Seeing this one and knowing that this is what you consider a #2 is impressive. This blem has taught me more about your company than buying a "select" would have.

Hudson Bay replacement handle

Excellent product quality and a perfect fit. I wish it had included 2 metal wedges instead of one but that is just personal preference. I will certainly purchase from Beaver-Tooth again when needed. extremely satisfied with my purchase.

Collins Boys/Hudson Bay Axe Handle

Nice looking handle. It was a bit small for the head space but after I fill the space with the wedge, splits of wood, and epoxy, it will be fine. I'm going to reshape the rest of the handle to match an old one that I have, and the small amount of wood that I pare off with a draw knife can be used to to fill the spaces.

This is a great handle on its own. However, it really punches above its weight class when you consider the price. A timely delivery and Uber friendly service is the cherry on top

Made to fit a hatchet.

Beautiful Handle, perfect grain, but unfortunately the only axe head this handle could possible fit is a tiny hatchet. Neither my vintage Collins or Plumb boys axes' eyes were even close to being small enough for this handle to be a safe haft. The eye fitting was identical to the 16" hatchet handle I ordered. I have never seen a Boys axe with a hatchet eye. I was very disappointed considering the cost and time for delivery. Further more I am a bit disappointed for the waste of perfectly good but now near useless hickory.

We sell more than one eye size in the 28' boys handle from the drop down box. All eye sizes are listed, so the buyer should read this info. and compare to their tool before they purchase. We do not sell a 16' hatchet with exact same eye as any of our 28' boys axe handles by the way. I believe you meant our 19' house axe. Yes we have the same (very close) eye on the 19' house axe, 24' , and one of our 28' boys axes.
