I salvaged this medium size digging tool which needed a handle. The Catagory List, Handle Photos, and Eye Dimensions at Beaver Tooth Handles led me to get the 34" Coal Miners Pick Handle. With a little more rasping and sanding it will be a strong tight fit.
I have one more head like this with a different eye size and a grub hoe head that still need handles that fit. My success here has given me hope.
Found this old miners pick at a flea market.

I have an old coal miners pick/hoe (Mexico)with axe eye. Broke the old handle digging a footing for a building. The handle fit perfect after I smoothed out the edges on the metal eyelett. Old tools are better than the new stuff produced today. Thanks for helping me to continue using a great tool.
The handle was finished at 1x3” for the very old pick that I have, but the bottom of the pick was much smaller than the actual handle. I used a small belt sander to trim the handle and was able to get a perfect fit. Nice finish on the handle and quality wood.
I purchased 3 different handles and the quality of the wood was excellent. I will buy more!
