Boys Axe Leather Sheath or Half Axe

Fits my old Kelly Works nice and snug from bit to poll (6-5/8”). However, the bit on this axe is only 3-3/4” tall. The sheath would be a perfect fit if it folded over right at the seam, but as you see in the pics that fold is roughly 3/4”above the last rivet which leaves a lot of play in my particular case. That said, I understand there are a wide range of half axes and the sheath needs to accommodate most of them. Good quality leather, stitching, and hardware. Should outlast me with proper care. (This sheath pictured has a good coat of Obenauf’s on it and I’ll give it a few more; as mentioned in other posts, the product is not oiled and it won’t be the color in these pics)

Sheaths and handles are fantastic! I'd been wanting to get a handle for my grandpa's axe head for a bit and the one I received hung wonderfully without much for sanding on my part.

Sheath is well made, tightly stitched, and riveted. I used a boot waterproofing on it, four times over three days, and since it is winter used a hot air gun to gently warm it up to help soak in the waterproofing. and It darkened a bit, but not all that much, Color matches the core of the hickory handle that fits through it. I might coat it one more time. Only way to improve it is to add a layer of leather across the bit, to avoid bit contacting the rivets. Oh, the size is spot on to the description. My axe head has less than an inch of poll, so I will be trimming the sheath a little bit to allow the handle farther back for a looser fit.

The sheath fit very well and was made out of thick leather. I've no doubt this will last the life of the axe with minimal care. The snap closure was very solid and easy to use. The hammer handle was to exact dimensions and the grain was in the proper direction. I would definitely order from beaver tooth again!

Fits perfectly on my old Stanley hatchet. Has good thick leather, not that cheap thin stuff you usually get.

The sheath is well made and fits the Council Tool Boys Axe well. The sheath is not oiled, which allows the user to dye it whatever color they want. I just oiled mine up preferring the natural finish/color. Will probably purchase the larger size for my felling axe.

As usual it was worth the wait. The only improvement is Beaver Tooth has a stock number or some such number stamped into each sheath. Why doesn't that number appear on the order form? I sure would like to be able to match the number stamped on the leather sheath I have to match what I am ordering. I would buy more sheaths if it was as easy as looking at the number on one I have and like and just ordering that.

Don''t let the name "Boy's Axe" fool you - a properly sharpened boy's axe can do a heck of a lot of chopping, splitting and even felling of small trees.
Once you have it sharpened, you need a sheath to protect both you and the axe. The Beaver Tooth leather sheath is a nicely made sheath with leather that is thick enough to protect you from the blade and also last a long time.
I highly recommend you sharpen up your axe correctly and then put it in the Beaver Tooth sheath!
