Heavy duty leather, strong construction. The leather is stiff, so you need to oil it to soften, but then it is a perfect fit. Good for another 60 years.
Nice
When I was a youngster I was a Boy Scout and my dad bought me a scout axe; that was more than 5o years ago. As you can imagine the sheath had deteriorated. When searching for a new sheath a friend recommended Beaver-tooth. I order the sheath for the scout axe and one for a Hudson Bay axe. Like the Hudson Bay axe sheath the sheath for the scout axe was unfinished an a tight fit. I wrapped the axe in a plastic bag, wet the sheath and put it on the axe. After the sheath had dried I removed it from the axe and it was a perfect fit. I then dyed it brown and put a coat of Sno-seal on it for protection.
As always with Beaver-Tooth, great service and great product, It fit my old Scout axe from my time in the Scouts back in the early 1960's and helps protect it in my collection.

Good quality thick leather, stitching is straight, rivets in line and not crushed. Overall excellent reproduction of the early model hatchet cover. More than expected for the price. Well worth the price.
After receiving the sheath, I dyed it dark brown for a distressed look to use with my Collins Official Boy Scout hatchet. I used your 12" handle and customized the palm swell with a couple pieces of Ipe.
As a kid, I found an old hatchet, presumably used by N.W. Bell in construction. That was about 70 years ago. I recently found the hatchet in my garage, bespattered with paint, rusty and with an old deteriorating handle. Removing the old handle, cleaning and resharpening the head was the easy part. The hard part was finding a good handle and a sheath. After many hours of research, I found Beaver-Tooth Handle Co. I found a replacement handle using their measurements for the eye and also found what I believed would be a good sheath. The measurements in the web site helped trememdously. As I never replaced a hatchet head before, I followed Beaver-Tooth's instructions, and even got on line help to assure I was fitting things properly. The end product is a re-born hatchet with a beatuful handle firmly installed and encased in a sheath that seems tailor made for this old head. While it took a while to receive the items, it was well worth the wait and Beaver-Tooth's responsive support along with their excellent products have made this old guy very happy. My daughter will now have a nice little hatchet for her camping. Thanks, Beaver-Tooth.
Very well made, it fit my Collins BSA hatchet perfect. A little oil and some obenaufs and it looks great. Satisfied customer.
Restored the hatchet for eldest my son. The original sheath was a heavy olive drab canvas one and has been gone since I lost it as a boy 35 years ago or more. Took me awhile to find the right thing and this is it. This sheath is well made and the correct dimensions, unlike others I've ordered or bought.
This is the third sheath I've purchased from beaver tooth. Two for hatchets, one for an axe. Everything is very well made with quality thick leather.

The leather is high quality and is a very good fit.
Really nice plain sheath. Great little starter for my young son to learn a bit of tooling on. Well made and should give him a long service life.
I recently found an old Putnam scout hatchet while walking along a gravel road. The handle was trashed and the blade a little rough but still serviceable. Beaver-tooth had the the handle and sheath in stock and shipped fast! The price was great, cheaper than what you would pay at “the rain forest”.
Good, quality leather and construction, with 2 feed thru slots for attaching to a belt. This company has a VERY slow delivery process(item did not ship for over 2 weeks after order placed)and zero replies to multiple emails directly to the company.I give the product a 4 because of its method of attachment and a 1 to the company.I only gave them the 1 because I actually received my item.
Absolutely satisfied! Top quality products and very well made! Great craftmanship with attention to detail made right here in the USA!
Well made and worth the price
Fits a classic Boy Scout hatchet just right. Would order again, great product.
Shealth is better than expected. Superior quality great fit. I should get a lifetime of use. I highly recommend you shop here for high quality products and superb service.
A top notch quality product. Would definitely shop here again. Great service.
This sheath is for my 50 year old boy scout plumb hatchet. Super quality and craftsmanship, but a little bit short and it is hard to button the snap. I worry that with any leather shrinkage it will become unusable...
Sir, the sizes are listed. We highly recommended that the sheath be treated with a leather conditioner which will help make the sheath more pliable.
Product received was as shown, very well made.
While this sheath is a tight fight, I expect it will stretch to fit my hatchet. The sheath is well-made with quality leather and stitching. The rivets re-enforce the sheath in all the right places.
Great quality - slow shipping.

Nicely made product, excellent workmanship.
Fits my 60's vintage Boy Scout (Plumb) hatchet very snugly at first. Loosens up a bit with a little leather treatment and repeated use. The original BSA sheath finally fell apart, so I'm really happy to have my trusty hatchet properly protected again!
